Filling forms

How does ChatFill fill a form?
You upload a PDF, then tell ChatFill your details in one message, out loud, or by clicking a box and typing. ChatFill puts each answer in its box. You check every answer before you sign or send.
Which PDFs work best?
PDFs with boxes you can click work best. On a flat PDF, ChatFill tries to find the blanks, but results vary. Scanned PDFs are not fully tested yet. Each PDF can be up to 10 MB.
Can I fix an answer?
Yes. Tell ChatFill in the chat, for example "Change the date to June 3," or click the box and type.
Which browsers does voice work in?
Voice works in Chrome. We are still testing other browsers. It works in English only for now.
Can ChatFill get an answer wrong?
Yes. Check every answer before you sign or send, most of all names, dates, numbers and legal or tax details. ChatFill is not a law firm and does not give legal, tax or medical advice.
Do I need to download anything?
No. ChatFill runs in your web browser. It needs an internet connection.

Signing and sending

Do the people I send to need an account?
No. They open a link from their email, fill their part and sign, on a phone or a computer. No account and no app.
How many people can sign one document?
Up to 5 people per request. Everyone gets it at the same time. You can't set a signing order yet.
How do signers sign?
They draw their signature, type their name or upload a photo of their signature. If something is wrong, they can decline and tell you why.
What if someone doesn't sign?
ChatFill sends reminders on day 3, on day 7 and the day before it's due. You can pick a due date of 7, 14 or 30 days, extend it, or cancel the request.
Who gets a copy?
Everyone. When all signers are done, each one gets a link to the signed PDF. You get the signed PDF and a Certificate of Completion.
What is a Certificate of Completion?
A PDF record of the signing: who signed, their email and IP address, their device, when they agreed and signed, and a digital fingerprint of the document before and after. Documents you sign yourself don't get one.
Is an e-signature legal?
In the U.S., a signature generally can't be refused just because it's electronic. Some papers are left out, like wills, divorce papers and court filings. See the e-signature facts.
How do I get my finished PDF?
There is no Download button yet. ChatFill emails your finished PDF to you.

Plans and billing

Is there a free plan?
Yes. It includes 5 AI form fills and 3 signature requests a month, and unlimited self-signing. It has no end date and needs no card.
How is my monthly allowance counted?
Each AI form fill is one PDF form that ChatFill fills with you. Each signature request is one document sent to up to 5 people. Your count starts over at the start of each month.
What happens when my free trial ends?
Checkout asks for a card, but you pay nothing during the 7-day trial. When it ends, your plan renews at the price you picked until you cancel. You can cancel anytime in Manage plan and keep access until the end of the time you paid for.
What happens if I hit my limit?
ChatFill tells you and offers an upgrade. It never charges you extra on its own.
Can I get a refund?
Paid on the web? Email us within 14 days of your first paid charge for a full refund. Paid on iPhone? Apple handles refunds. Read the refund policy.

Privacy and security

Are my documents used for training?
No. ChatFill does not use your documents to train AI. Anthropic and OpenAI handle your form and your voice. Under their business terms, they don't train on this data either.
Where is my data stored?
With Supabase, our database provider, in the United States. Supabase encrypts stored data.
Who can see my files?
You, the people you send a document to, and our team when they need to support you or keep ChatFill secure. Today, a stored file can be opened by anyone who has its exact web address. We are moving every file behind links that expire. Until then, think twice before uploading forms with Social Security or bank account numbers. Read the security page.
Can I use ChatFill for patient records?
No. ChatFill is not designed for HIPAA-regulated use and does not sign business associate agreements. You can still fill out your own health forms.
How do I delete my account?
In your account settings. We close the account at once and permanently delete your data 30 days later. Read the privacy policy.
