How it works

Upload a PDF. Fill it. Sign it or send it.

Here is each step, what you can do today, and what ChatFill doesn't do yet.

Free plan: 5 AI form fills and 3 signature requests a month. No card needed.

Four steps

  1. Step 1

    1. Sign up and upload

Sign up with your email and a 6-digit code. There's no password. Then upload a PDF form, up to 10 MB. ChatFill reads the boxes in forms you can click. On a flat PDF, it tries to find the blanks, but results vary. Scanned PDFs are not fully tested yet.

  2. Step 2

    2. Fill it

Type one message with your details, say them out loud, or click a box and type. ChatFill puts each answer in its box.

  3. Step 3

    3. Check it

Every answer shows on the PDF. To fix one, tell ChatFill in the chat, or click the box and type.

  4. Step 4

    4. Sign it or send it

Sign it yourself, or send it to up to 5 people. They sign with no account, and everyone gets a copy.

Three ways to fill

Type. Write one message with the details, like names, dates and addresses. ChatFill puts each one in the right box. If something is off, just say so, for example: "Change the date to June 3."

Talk. Tap the microphone and say your details. ChatFill turns your words into text and shows it to you before anything is sent. Voice works in Chrome. We are still testing other browsers. It works in English only.

Click. Click any box on the PDF and type. You can also add a text box or a checkbox where the form has none.

However you fill it, check every answer. AI can make mistakes, most often with names, dates and numbers.

Signing it yourself

Click a signature box. First, you agree to sign electronically. Then you draw your signature, or use the one you saved. ChatFill saves a record of your consent with the time.

ChatFill never fills a signature box on its own. Self-signing is free on every plan.

Sending it for signature

Send a PDF to other people to fill their part and sign.

  • Send one PDF to up to 5 people at once.
  • Give each person the boxes they need to fill.
  • They open a link from their email, on a phone or a computer. No account and no app.
  • They draw their signature, type their name or upload a photo of their signature. Or they decline and tell you why.
  • Pick a due date of 7, 14 or 30 days. You can extend it or cancel the request.
  • ChatFill sends reminders on day 3, on day 7 and the day before it's due. You can also send one yourself, once a day per person.
  • Track each request on your Requests page.
  • When everyone has signed, each person gets a copy. You get the signed PDF and a Certificate of Completion.

Getting your finished PDF

There is no Download button yet. ChatFill emails your finished PDF to you.

What ChatFill doesn't do yet

We would rather tell you now than have you find out later.

  • Everyone gets a signing request at the same time. You can't set a signing order yet.
  • You can't save a form as a template yet.
  • Scanned PDFs are not fully tested yet. PDFs with boxes you can click work best.
  • Documents you sign yourself don't get a Certificate of Completion.
  • On a flat PDF, you can't yet place an empty signature box for someone else.
  • Two people can't sign together on one device yet.
  • Signers are checked by their email link only. There are no ID checks.
  • Voice works in Chrome and in English only for now.
  • Private, expiring links for stored files are not live yet.
  • The iPhone app is not in the App Store yet.
  • There is no Android app.
  • There are no team accounts yet. Each account is for one person.
  • There is no public API yet.
  • ChatFill has no integrations with other apps yet.
  • ChatFill needs an internet connection. It does not work offline.
  • ChatFill is not built for HIPAA-regulated health records.
